Project Description

UA Tech Park, a dynamic mixed-use development tailored for technology companies of all sizes. With 2 million square feet of customizable space, businesses from startups to tech giants the well-established university research park. Sun Mechanical has been heavily involved within the University of Arizona Tech Park going on 12 years now working for Raytheon, IBM and other Fortune 500 Companies. Sun has had a big footprint not only being these companies partners but also their General Contractor for their capital improvement project.

  • These project featured domestic water, chilled water and Di water that was specialty piped in poly lined schedule 40 pipe.
  • Sun Mechanical provided the tech park with multiple hydronic specialties including new pumps, air dirt separators, expansion tanks and pot feeders. In addition, Sun provided Building 9020 with new VFDs, SADs and BADs per the plans specifications
  • The main focus of this project was the installation of (4) new Heat Exchangers, one in building 9024 and three in building 9020 that had to be disassembled upon delivery and reassembled inside of the building. The Heat Exchanger also had to have new structural steel supports withing the mezzanine to increase the weight capacity to hold the new Heat Exchanger that were installed. Sun also provided epoxy coated containment areas and curbs for specified locations.
  • After everything was completed and installed all equipment was tied back into the buildings existing BACnet control system.
