Sun Mechanical was awarded the contract for the plumbing and HVAC systems at the Northwest Medical Center Houghton in Tucson, Arizona. This project involved the construction of a new 182,000-square-foot, 52-bed hospital with advanced mechanical and plumbing infrastructure. Sun Mechanical’s scope included the complete installation of plumbing and medical gas piping for surgical and patient care areas, along with an HVAC system powered by a central plant to maintain precise temperature and humidity control in critical areas such as the ICU, surgical suites, and maternity wards.
The project also employed BIM coordination, combined with pre-fabrication and robotic total-station layout, to ensure seamless system integration. These strategies minimized on-site conflicts and enhanced overall efficiency, safety, and accuracy throughout the construction process.
