Sun Mechanical played a key role in the construction of the 9 story, 220,000-square-foot Health Sciences Innovation Building (HSIB) at the University of Arizona, providing complete plumbing and HVAC systems for this state-of-the-art healthcare education and research facility. The building was designed to support multidisciplinary collaboration among health professionals, students, and faculty, and required high-performance mechanical systems to ensure optimal environmental control and energy efficiency.
The HVAC system utilized a displacement air system, which enhances thermal comfort and reduces energy consumption throughout the facility. The lab spaces were equipped with venturi valves for precise airflow control, ensuring the highest standard of air quality and climate control in critical research environments. Sun Mechanical’s installation was integral to the building’s sustainable design, contributing to the HSIB’s LEED Silver certification.
