Sun Mechanical was a key member of the construction team for the 156,800-square-foot Bioscience Research Laboratories (BSRL) at the University of Arizona, designed to advance interdisciplinary biomedical research. As part of the university’s research complex, the facility supports research in areas such as human health, aging, and disease.
Sun Mechanical’s scope of work included BIM modeling, installation of plumbing, HVAC systems, and specialized lab systems such as air and piping for laboratory environments. The mechanical systems incorporated advanced energy-saving technologies, including heat pipe technology for energy recovery, bypass controls, and chilled beams. The HVAC system also featured venturi air valves to ensure precise airflow control in lab spaces. The building achieved LEED Silver and Green Globes-3 Globe Certification.
