Sun Mechanical offers two scholarship programs. The Sun Mechanical Vocational Scholarship is open to high school seniors or students currently enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited vocational or technical program. The Sun Mechanical Employee Family Scholarship is open to dependent children of current Sun employees. Read on to learn more.

SUN MECHANICAL VOCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP

ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP

Sun Mechanical Contracting, Inc. believes that trades are key to economic development. The Sun Mechanical Contracting, Inc. Vocational Scholarship was created to reflect our commitment to growing a skilled workforce now and in the future. The goal of the scholarship program is to assist individuals who are interested in attending an educational program for the mechanical trade.

WHO SHOULD APPLY?

The Sun Mechanical Contracting, Inc. Vocational Scholarship is open to high school seniors or students currently enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited vocational or technical program. The program may be at a community college, vocational school, trade school, or university.

The ideal recipient:

  • Is pursuing a trade including HVAC sheet metal, plumbing, piping, or work as a commercial HVAC service technician or plumber.

  • Is currently enrolled or has been accepted into a mechanical trade program.

  • Has clear goals and understands how an education will help further a career in the mechanical trade.

  • Is an Arizona resident.

AWARD & DEADLINE INFORMATION

One recipient will receive $2,500 to the trade or academic school of their choice. Applications must be received by March 31, 2020.

SUN MECHANICAL EMPLOYEE FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP

ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP

The Sun Mechanical Contracting, Inc. Employee Family Scholarship was created to provide financial assistance to dependent children of Sun Mechanical employees who are attending or will attend an accredited university, college, or trade/vocational school in Fall 2019.

WHO SHOULD APPLY?

The Sun Mechanical Contracting, Inc. Employee Family Scholarship is open to high school seniors or students currently enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited college or trade school program.

The ideal recipient:

  • Is a dependent child of a current Sun Mechanical employee.

  • Is currently enrolled or has been accepted into a university, college, or trade school program.

  • Has clear goals and understands how a post-secondary education will help further their career goals.

AWARD & DEADLINE INFORMATION

One recipient will receive $2,500 to the trade or academic school of their choice. Applications must be received by March 31, 2020.

2019 Vocational Scholarship Recipient

Aaron Gonzalez is a full-time Sun Mechanical Journeyman and Plumber. He is also a first-generation college student at Pima Community College. He is pursuing an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Construction Management.

2019 Employee Family Scholarship Recipient

Fabian Lopez is a student in the honors college at Northern Arizona University. He is pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Music Performance. His dad, Fabian Sr., has been with Sun Mechanical since 2012. He began as a laborer, graduated from our apprentice program, and is now a HVAC journeyman.

“The overarching omphalos of my music degree is to help make classical music more inclusive, to make classical music more enjoyable again. My goal is to become a conductor of a major orchestra e.g. San Francisco Symphony or Berlin Philharmonic.” - Fabian Lopez
